About me

I have been a musician and many other things before finding meaning in mental health work.

I have read widely throughout scientific, psychotherapeutic, philosophical, and spiritual traditions, practiced meditation and yoga, and, for many years, been drawn to questions about life and living.

Psychoanalysis has helped me greatly.

My practice has been shaped by my own time in therapy, and the time I spent searching for my own answers. Through this, I realised that I couldn’t be helped by anything less than an honest and challenging look at my own self.

What does it mean to realise this? For some, it might mean discouragement. There is no simple solution, shortcuts get us further lost. But on the other hand, it is always better to take this on than to try to avoid it. Once some of the conflicts, guilt and fear are cleared away, life opens up. And life, when it opens up, can be beautiful.

When people see me, they don’t get a set of strategies or skills that they could just as well find online. I work closely with people using all the accumulated experience and knowledge I have. But to be clear, therapy isn’t my life experience being imposed on you. If any of my experience is useful in the room, it’s the time I have spent searching, finding, and being there while others have done the same.
